New MG Marvel R Electric is a charger on wheels with V2L system

15-07-2021
The battery of an electric car obviously has the primary function of supplying the electric drive motor with energy. With the alle-new, all-electric MG Marvel R Electric, however, that is a different story. This new electric SUV from MG is equipped as standard with a so-called V2L system, with which the battery can also supply energy to external electric devices.

V2L stands for Vehicle to Load. With this feature, the car acts like a huge charger on wheels. The principle is quite simple. The V2L system includes a charging cable with a type-2 plug that fits into the car’s charging socket on one side, and a power strip with three household sockets on the other.

By simply plugging in the plug, all types of electrical devices can be powered by the 70 kWh lithium-ion battery of the MG Marvel R Electric. Moreover, you do need to start the car for this.

The V2L system has a maximum output of 2,500 Watt and is particularly useful in places where there is no electricity available. On the road, for example, if you take a break after a long drive and want to put on the kettle for a nice cup of tea. Or at the campsite if you want to inflate a large air mattress with an electric air pump. You can charge your e-bike as well, if you want. Or an electric scooter, laptop, and so on. In fact, you can even charge an electric car. For example, to help another EV driver if he or she is in danger of stranding with an empty battery.

The V2L system is just one of the many innovations of the new MG Marvel R Electric. This C-segment lifestyle SUV is expected to arrive at European MG Brandstores this autumn. However, it’s already available for pre-order with an expected European price range from € 40,000 to € 50,000 (including VAT). Want to know more? Discover the new MG Marvel R Electric here.
