MG reflects on Earth Day
Speaking of responsibilities: under the banner of parent company SAIC Motor, MG is fully committed to a more sustainable future. Since the launch of the renewed MG brand in mainland Europe, MG is demonstrating its sole commitment to electric mobility.
Before the end of this year, it will offer three all-electric models and a plug-in hybrid in its European MG Brandstores. And that’s not all. European customers can count on more sustainable electric vehicles in the coming years.
More and more car manufacturers announce they will stop selling new vehicles that are only powered by an internal combustion engine by 2030. But MG is already doing no different and takes the lead in Europe with a growing range of attractive electric models.
And that is not without reason. Emission-free mobility is becoming increasingly important. There are 8 billion people on this earth and 1.5 billion vehicles. It’s therefore necessary that we use our energy and raw materials smarter than ever before. Electric driving is a great solution.
Available to the many
But just offering electric cars is not enough. They must also be accessible to the general public. Something that is absolutely not the case yet. MG is here to make a change for the better. Working determinedly and vigorously on making electric mobility available to the many. Just look at the MG ZS EV, which with its unbeatable price, generous standard equipment, class-leading safety, high build quality and excellent performance caused a stir in the EV segment.
Matt Lei, CEO at MG Motor Europe: “When we relaunched the British MG brand under the banner of our parent company SAIC Motor, we made a promise to European drivers: making electric mobility accessible to drivers who are young at heart and ready to embrace a new electric lifestyle. Offering smart, practical, safe and technologically advanced cars is our main focus. With the MG ZS EV, MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid, new MG Marvel R Electric, new MG5 Electric and more to come, we offer electric vehicles that meet the demands of the most discerning European motorists. Such as an attractive range, fast-charging capability, advanced safety features and most of all, smart pricing.”
Powerful and progressive parent company
MG’s strength comes from the fact that the brand operates under the banner of parent company SAIC Motor, the 7th largest automotive manufacturer in the world. It’s the largest carmaker in China as well, ranking first in China for the past 15 years.
SAIC Motor focuses on the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) – a term to designate battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fuel-cell electric vehicles. NEV sales by SAIC Motor saw a year-on-year increase of 73.4% in 2020. This makes SAIC Motor one of the most experienced EV manufacturers in the world. In addition, it partners with China’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer CATL.
