The launch of the new MG Marvel R Electric reinforces the company’s mission to make electric mobility accessible to drivers who are young at heart and ready to embrace a new electric lifestyle. Offering smart, practical, safe and technologically advanced cars in different segments for different needs.

The Marvel R Electric is a next-generation high-tech all-electric SUV. It’s the second MG model for the C-SUV segment in addition to the MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid, with even greater emphasis on design, refinement, quality, attention to detail and state-of-the-art technology. This is particularly evident in the premium interior with the standard MG iSMART connectivity system and 19.4” touchscreen.

The spacious SUV offers a high degree of efficiency, appealing performance and an enjoyable driving experience. Thanks to the ideal weight distribution, parts that are normally only found in sports cars and the relatively low vehicle weight, the SUV offers excellent handling.

Appealing performance with up to 402 km range

The MG Marvel R Electric not only exudes power, but also lives up to it with its performance. The SUV is offered with a choice* of three trim levels and two powertrain variants. The Comfort and Luxury versions both have rear-wheel drive, two electric motors, a system output of 132 kW (180 ps), 410 Nm of torque, and a WLTP range of 402 kilometres. The Performance version adds an electric motor to the front axle. It therefore offers permanent all-wheel drive. System output and peak torque are set at 212 kW (288 ps) and 665 Nm of torque, combined with a range of 370 kilometres (WLTP).

All versions of the MG Marvel R Electric are equipped with a 70 kWh battery. Customers will benefit from quick charging capability at a public charging point (AC) due to the 11 kW 3-phase on-board charger which is standard included. The battery thermal management system (also standard) which can heat or cool the battery (and the interior) ensures optimum charging performance in all circumstances. Furthermore, the battery can be charged at a fast-charging station (DC) with a capacity of up to 92 kW. In this case, it takes just 30 minutes to charge the battery from 30-80% and 43 minutes from 5-80%.

MG iSMART connectivity system

MG’s flagship is characterized as a desirable ‘lifestyle’ SUV that responds to motorists who place high demands on design, luxury and technology. In addition to its striking and progressive exterior design, every Marvel R Electric offers a digital cockpit with a 12.3” instrument panel and an impressive 19.4” touchscreen to control the new MG iSMART connectivity system.

Depending on the trim level, the MG iSMART system offers a wide range of (online) functions. Such as DAB+, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, seamless smartphone connection with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto^TM, wireless smartphone charging, real-time traffic navigation, weather forecast, and streaming audio with Amazon Music. In the meantime, the connectivity system is always updated using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and over-the-air updates.

The standard MG iSMART system also connects to a smartphone app, with which various functions can be controlled remotely. The app allows users to access a range of useful features, such as Find My Vehicle, Status Checking, Vehicle Statistics and Health Scan, Route Planning, Calendar Synchronizing and Charging Management. Thanks to the battery thermal management system, it’s also possible to cool or heat the interior prior to departure by using the app.

MG Pilot

MG lives up to its promise to make electric driving accessible, and as safe as possible for European motorists. In this context, the MG Marvel R Electric takes a step forward with a comprehensive range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), grouped under de name MG Pilot. From the Comfort version, the MG Marvel R Electric is equipped with 15 ADAS that alerts the driver for potential hazards on the road and intervene if necessary, ranging from Adaptive Cruise Control to Traffic Jam Assistance, Lane Keep Assistance, Rear Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Intelligent High Beam Control, and Drowsiness Warning System.

Usability

The largest MG in de range, with a length of 4,674 mm and a wheelbase of 2,804 mm, is perfect for those who value a spacious interior with generous seating and practicality. The Marvel R Electric offers 357 litres of trunk volume in the rear. With the rear seats folded, it can be enlarged to 1,396 litres. The rear-wheel drive version of the Marvel R Electric also offers 150 litres of luggage space in front under the ‘bonnet’, also known as a frunk. Furthermore, the SUV has a maximum towing weight of 750 kg and is therefore suitable for towing a (small) trailer.

Generous standard equipment

One of the main USPs of the MG Marvel R Electric is its generous standard equipment. In addition to the digital cockpit with the MG iSMART connectivity system, the heat pump and extensive range of MG Pilot technology, the SUV also comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, dual-zone climate control, 18” or 19” alloy wheels, parking aid at the front and rear, and privacy glass. As well as electrically adjustable and heated sidemirrors, a panoramic sunroof, 4 USB portals, keyless entry, a leather-lined multifunction steering wheel, (partially) leather upholstery, and a six-way electric adjustable driver’s seat with memory function.

When opting for the Luxury or Performance version, features like a 360° camera with transparent chassis view, virtual tailgate pedal, ambient interior lighting, heated front seats are included as well. An impressive Bose premium audio system is exclusively for the Performance version.

Standard V2L system

The MG Marvel R Electric is also equipped with a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) system as standard. This allows the battery to supply energy to an external electrical system. The V2L system includes a charging cable that on one side has the type 2 plug that fits into the charging socket of the car, and on the other side is equipped with a power strip with household sockets. The V2L system has a maximum load capacity of up to 2,500W, and is particularly useful in situations where there is no socket available.

By simply plugging in, all types of electrical devices can be powered by the 70 kWh battery of the MG Marvel R Electric, such as an air pump, kettle, electric scooter or laptop. Moreover, you don’t have to start the car for this. You can even charge another electric car, for example to help an EV driver if it threatens to become stranded with an empty battery.

Highly competitive price tag

The European prices** of the new MG Marvel R Electric start at € 39,990 for the Comfort version. For the additional cost of just € 4,000, the SUV is available in Luxury trim (€ 43,990). The most comprehensive and powerful version, the Performance, is available from € 47,990.
