MG is proud to announce that European manufacturing will restart at a new facility in Galicia, Spain. This investment of approximately €200 million is a major milestone in MG’s long-term commitment to the European market and the acceleration of its ‘In Europe, For Europe’ strategy.
The facility will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe, establishing a strategic hub for MG’s next phase of growth. Production is scheduled to begin in 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles.
The site will integrate vehicle research and development, advanced manufacturing, core component supply, and intelligent logistics operations, forming a fully connected, end-to-end industrial ecosystem. This platform will significantly expand localized production and sourcing, strengthening the resilience, responsiveness, and agility of MG’s European supply chain.
In parallel, MG will deepen collaboration with leading European technology partners, research institutions, and local suppliers to accelerate innovation across key future-facing domains, including next-generation battery technology, intelligent mobility systems, and clean energy solutions.
This announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the European automotive industry, as the EU’s 2035 zero-emission targets continue to accelerate the shift toward electrified mobility. Through localised manufacturing, sustained investment in R&D, and a customer-centric approach to innovation, MG is reinforcing its commitment to Europe while expanding access to advanced mobility solutions for consumers across the region.
At the same time, MG continues to bring world-class technologies to market, including its newly launched, the first mass-produced SolidCore, semi-solid-state battery and its class-leading Hybrid+ and Plug-in Hybrid technology portfolio. Together, these advancements underline MG’s growing role in shaping more sustainable, intelligent, and future-focused mobility in Europe.
MG’s continued investment builds on strong momentum across this region. Earlier this year, the brand celebrated the delivery of its one-millionth vehicle in the European market. Since re-entering the UK in 2011, MG has become one of Europe’s fastest-growing automotive brands, supported by a network of more than 1,300 dealer partners across 34 markets. More recently, MG’s parent group marked the delivery of its 100-millionth global customer vehicle, underscoring its scale and global reach.
In recent months, MG has significantly expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of several key models, including the all-new MG4 EV Urban and the all-new MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid,
the brand’s first seven-seater SUV, delivering premium versatility and spacious three-row seating. Building on a strong product rollout over the past year, MG has also introduced the MGS5 EV, MGS6 EV and MG HS Hybrid+, further strengthening its presence across the electric and hybrid vehicle segments. At the forefront of MG’s innovation journey, the MG Cyberster continues to redefine electric performance, seamlessly blending the brand’s sporting heritage and iconic roadster design with cutting-edge EV technology.
“From technological innovation to the localisation of manufacturing and R&D across Europe, supported by a truly global product line-up, MG continues to push the boundaries of what is possible—making advanced technology and sustainable mobility accessible to more people than ever before,” said William Wang, Managing Director, MG UK and Europe.
“Through our ‘In Europe, For Europe’ strategy, we are not simply responding to the future of mobility—we are helping define it. By investing in local capabilities, strengthening our European footprint and fostering a more competitive automotive ecosystem, we are accelerating Europe’s journey towards a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future.”
