Our all-electric B-segment SUV finished well ahead of number 2 and was praised by the jury for its excellent combination of pricing, equipment and warranty.<\/strong>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time in <a href=\"https:\/\/magazine.vab.be\/op-weg\/vab-gezinswagenverkiezing-2021\/#_ga=2.207643409.288889182.1614096410-824426042.1614096410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">VAB\u2019s Family Car of the Year election<\/a> (34th year), only 100% electric cars competed in the &#8216;Electric&#8217; category. In previous years, plug-in hybrids were classified in this category as well. The MG ZS EV received 75 points, beating the Hyundai Ioniq Electric (63 points) and the Volkswagen I.D.3 (58 points).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>The jury&#8217;s verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAlthough MG was originally a British brand, it now belongs to the Chinese <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/development.news.larva.cloud\/\/es\/meet-our-parent-company-saic-motor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>SAIC Group<\/em><\/a><em>. The renewed MG brand e<\/em>ntered<em> the Belgian market only one year ago and immediately succeeds in winning the title of VAB Family Car of the Year. A Chinese-made car never received this honour before. The MG ZS EV owes this award because of its favourable price, excellent standard equipment and a <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/development.news.larva.cloud\/\/es\/mg-offers-one-of-the-best-warranty-conditions-in-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>seven-year manufacturer&#8217;s warranty<\/em><\/a><em>. The MG ZS EV proves that a fully electric, well-equipped and practical family car shouldn&#8217;t be too expensive. The brand shows how affordable electric driving can be.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The jury of the VAB Family Car of the Year election consists of a group of automotive professionals. All the cars in the test were judged on various aspects that are important for a family car. This year, for the first time, the costs per kilometre were also taken into account in the final result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The VAB calculated these costs for all participating cars based on pricing, fixed costs (insurance, motor vehicle tax, maintenance, etc) and actual energy consumption. The calculation is based on a family that drives 20,000 kilometres annually and owns the car for 8 years.
