MG opens next chapter with first delivery in Germany
For MG, Germany is clearly an exciting market. MG demonstrates its commitment to electric mobility in Europe. Pledging to make new energy vehicles accessible to drivers who are young at heart and ready to embark on a new electric lifestyle.
As you might know, Germany is Europe’s largest market for new passenger cars. And with around 398,000 BEVs and PHEVs sold in 2020, it’s now the second largest EV market in the world as well. Last year, about one in eight (PH)EVs worldwide were sold in Germany.
German customers are also looking forward to the arrival of the brand’s affordable, practical, safe and technologically advanced vehicles. As the first MG customer in Germany emphasizes: «I chose the MG ZS EV in Luxury trim for all kinds of reasons, but mainly because of its great value for money and the short delivery time. It’s a smarter choice.»
Since January, already thirteen MG Agents are up and running throughout Germany. Furthermore, an additional ten MG Agents will open their premises for MG customers within mid of March 2021. The network will be expanded considerably in the coming year, offering full coverage to guarantee a nearby MG Agent for sales and after sales for all customers in Germany.
MG ZS EV
The MG ZS EV is the first truly affordable, all-electric SUV. It makes no concessions in terms of style, comfort, quality and safety. An 105 kW (143 hp) electric motor drives the front wheels. The 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery provides sufficient capacity for a range of 263 km (WLTP).
The interior is characterized by high-quality materials and finish. The multimedia system with a 8.0 inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is just an examples of the extensive standard equipment.
Thanks to its highly advanced architecture and intelligent safety systems, the MG ZS EV is also the very first 100% electric B-segment SUV to achieve five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid
The MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid is MG’s second new model in mainland Europe. The spacious SUV uses pioneering plug-in hybrid technology that combines low consumption and emission levels with optimal driving pleasure. It’s also lavishly equipped with an extensive range of comfort and safety features.
The sturdy powertrain comprises a 1.5-litre turbo engine, an ingenious 10-speed transmission, an electric motor and a 16.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. It boasts a system output of 190 kW (258 hp), with a 370 Nm peak torque.
In EV mode, the MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid can travel up to 52 km (WLTP) fully electrically, and therefore emission free. The 3.7 kW on-board charger allows the battery to be fully charged at a public (AC) charging point in around 4.5 hours. The plug-in hybrid SUV is also fitted with a regenerative braking system, which stores the energy released during deceleration and re-uses it to optimise the battery range or further reduce fuel consumption.
43 g/km
An advanced gearbox transfers the power from the petrol engine and the electric motor to the front wheels. The petrol engine’s drive torque is transmitted by a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the electric motor transmits the power through an electronic drive unit with four gears. Together, they form a 10-speed automatic gearbox, enabling the vehicle to choose the ideal gear and change gear smoothly and rapidly, ensuring above-average efficiency in all conditions. The average CO2 emission of the MG EHS Plug-in Hybrid is just 43 g/km (WLTP).
The five-star Euro NCAP safety rating for the petrol variant is partly thanks to the MG Pilot driver assistance systems and the usage of high tensile steel in the body structure of the vehicle.
